Office Area: Created on 11x17 Vellum
For this assignment, the goals were to create a new office space for the client Mr. Jones. He required a reception/lobbery area that can seat 6 people plus a receptionist, a small break room, and storage for office supplies. There will be three other subordinates working for him that will each have a private office. Two administrative assistants will work for all four people. The space also needed a conference room for four people. Filing would be incorporated into the area with the administrative assistants. The two conference rooms need to be near the lobby along with a single toilet room. The break room needed to be the front for the receptionist to offer drinks to guests but not to close where the smells drift into the lobby. The space will also need a copy/print/mail sorting area that is close to the storage and admin. assistants.
The first step of the assignment was to create an adjacency matrix that showed the relation between the spaces. Once that was complete, a bubble diagram was made to show where each of the spaces would be placed, and the pathways between them. Lastly, I colored in the bubble diagram to make it more presentable.
Tiny Home Inspirations

Tiny Home Inspirations: Created on Drawing Paper
For this assignment, we had to create a mind map for a Tiny Home. The goal was to be creative and use our skills as designers to create a mind map of different things that could go into creating a Tiny Home. It was to be colorful and include small drawings. I used four different colors to outline the different spaces in the home. I added a drawing of the home in the center, light fixtures for key components, coffee for the coffee cabinet. My goal was to make it as detailed and fun as possible to represent my ideas.

Small Residential Project: Created on 11x17 Vellum
For this project, we were given a small residential home to design. The client, Mr. and Mrs. Russel had purchased a one-acre oceanfront property in West Palm Beach, FL. They provided a list of specific spaces they would like to have in their new home. They would like to keep the overall size of the house and any attachments at or under 2,400 SF. The spaces include an open floor plan, master bedroom suite, kitchen, family room, formal dining room, 2 additional bedrooms, guest bathroom, art studio, and exterior patio. The goal was to design a home to accommodate the Russel family.
The first step was to create a simple bubble diagram to brainstorm where I wanted the spaces to go. Next, I created a block plan to start creating my floor plan ideas. No doors or furniture were added to this plan because it was just focusing on where to place the spaces. Room labels were created on this plan. A loose plan was then created with doorways, furniture, and entryways. The final plan, the refined plan, was the completed floor plan with shaded walls, furniture, doorways, room labels, and everything to scale.
