FACS 343: Digital Drafting II

SketchUp: Church Plan
3-D Rendering

*Completed in SketchUp

For this project, we were introduced to the software SketchUp. Given a church floor plan, we were asked to 3-D model the church similar to the one given using its dimensions. This project was a multiple-week project, which included different phases such as floor plan, millwork, FF & E, 3-D renderings, and animation. However, there were bugs in my file that would not allow me to complete a render. Pictured above are several spaces in the church that would have been used for renderings. The pictures include a bathroom perspective, coffee lounge, sanctuary, and entrance/lounge area.

Animation

*Completed in SketchUp

Pictured above is an animation video that walks you through each designed area of the church. This 3-D model was created in SketchUp by adding scenes to create the video. Each of the rooms in the church includes furnishings, paint color, trim, lighting, and decor.

REVIT CHURCH PLAN
CONSTRUCTION SHEETS

*Completed in Revit

For this project, we were asked to use the AutoCAD file that was also used in the SketchUp project above, import it into Revit and create a 3-D model. The goal of the assignment was to create the same project in SketchUp, as close to similarity as possible. Although Revit finishes and materials are limited compared to SketchUp's warehouse, they were matched as best as possible. Throughout this slider, there are several construction sheets that include a cover sheet, floor plan, furniture plan, sections and elevations, axonometric view, and vignettes or renderings.

ANIMATION

*Completed in Revit

For the animation of the Revit Church Plan, we had to focus cameras and walk them through the floor plan of where we wanted to show our church. For my animation, I chose to walk through the two lounge areas, one being a coffee bar lounge area, the kitchen, and the sanctuary. The hardest part about this project was getting the video to slow down because the scenes went too fast.

She-Shed

*Completed in SketchUp

The She-Shed project was one of the first projects we completed in the semester. It was a big learning experience for I had never worked with SketchUp and we had to create a 3-D model, but it had to be error-free for 3-D printing. This was probably the most fun project because we could do whatever we wanted, there were no parameters. For my she-shed, I wanted it to be modernized, including lots of natural light and a patio area with a nice fireplace with it. Obsessed that I could see my design come to life through 3-D printing.
